Utsubo Park
In addition to the rose garden and rows of zelkova trees, there is a tennis center that hosts international tournaments. On the north side of the park, Kyomachibori, there are many stylish cafes and general stores.
This park spreads across Utsubo Honmachi, an office district in Osaka. It is long and narrow, stretching 800m east to west and 150m north to south, with a total area of 9.7ha. It is divided into the East Garden and the West Garden by the Naniwa-suji street that runs north to south through the center. The East Garden has the city's oldest rose garden, the Utsubo Tennis Court with 10 tennis courts, and a row of zelkova trees that changes color with the seasons, while the West Garden has the Utsubo Tennis Center with 16 tennis courts that is used for international competitions. During Hideyoshi's time, the surrounding area flourished as the Zakoba Fish Market and a salted and dried fish wholesale district. Hearing fish merchants selling fish in the town shouting "cheap, cheap," Hideyoshi remarked, "Yasu (arrow nest) means Utsubo (a tool for putting arrows in)," and so the town was named Utsubo. There are many stylish cafes and general stores in Kyomachibori on the north side of the park.
