5 minutes walk from Yodoyabashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line. Along with the Mengyo Kaikan and the Osaka Gas Building, the Osaka Club is said to be one of the three most famous buildings in Osaka. It was founded in 1912 by Osaka business leaders as a members-only social club. The current building was designed in 1924 by Takeo Yasui, the same man who designed the Gas Building, after the old building burned down. It has four floors above ground and one below ground, and is a Southern European style with an Eastern touch. The exterior is finished in a Southern European style with eye-catching stone arches, which are often seen in the architecture of the old Roman city, and the detailed carvings, such as arabesque borders and totem poles, have Eastern and Middle Eastern motifs. Inside, the doors, beams, shelves, etc. are all made of wood, and are unified in deep colors. It was designated a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 1997. The interior is not open to the public.
