Former Konishi Family Residence Museum
The former office building of Konishi Co., Ltd., which manufactures and sells the synthetic adhesive "Bond." The building has a main facade and allows visitors to experience a part of the life of a merchant at the time (a national important cultural property).
The Former Konishigata Residence Historical Museum, which remains in Doshomachi, a pharmaceutical wholesale district, is a Japanese-style building that is a culmination of modern Osaka's townhouses. Konishi Gisuke Shoten (now Konishi Co., Ltd.), which was founded as a drug dealer in 1870, built the house over a period of three years starting in 1900, and was completed in 1903. High-quality materials were used for the building, and although it is simple, there are traces of elaborate design and ingenuity in each room and teahouse. In the kitchen, there is a large hearth that cooked meals for about 50 people, including the family and employees. It was renovated into a historical museum in 2020, the 150th anniversary of the company's founding (reservations required).
