Minamihorie/Kitahorie area

A town where clothing, food, and housing are all stylish.

The Horie area is attracting attention as a fashionable area. It is said that it was once a town lined with lumber shops. The Horie River flows at the border between present-day Kitahorie and Minamihorie, and it is said that ships carrying lumber used to come and go. The area was reduced to ashes by a major air raid in 1945, and the evacuees returned and Tachibana Street, known as the Furniture Town, was created. In recent years, new stores have begun to open one after another in Horie. Clothes store, general store, cafe. It has become a town filled with fashionable stores that were ahead of its time, and where many people gather.
