He is listed as one of the 22 shrines of Wakae District in Kawachi Province in the Engishiki Jinmyocho published in 927 (an extension of 5 years) during the Heian period, and since the Muromachi period he has been a god of the market. It was also revered and prospered. During the Edo period, as the villages around this area developed, the shrine gained reverence from the villagers as a deity of the land, and had a vast shrine site that continued along the right bank of the Nagase River. This temple, which is an old Engishiki shrine, was newly built in 1874 (Meiji 7) and then rebuilt in 1991 (Heisei 3). Within the precincts, you can also see a set shrine, Yasaka Shrine, and a subsidiary shrine, Tokoyo Shrine. The main shrine of Setsusha Yasaka Shrine has been designated as a tangible cultural property of Higashiosaka City as it preserves the shrine architectural style of the mid-Edo period.
