Kirara Kujo Shopping Street
A famous shopping street that conveys the atmosphere of the downtown area. On days when the Orix Buffaloes play at the Dome, there are various services available!
Kujo escaped the war and still retains the atmosphere of a downtown area. In recent years, it has become well-known for being the location of Kyocera Dome Osaka (formerly Osaka Dome). On the west side of Kujo Station on the Chuo Subway Line, the shopping street stretches for about 600 meters and is lined with about 150 stores, including restaurants, fresh produce, women's, men's and children's fashion, and books. The nickname "Kirara" was chosen through a public contest when the arcade was remodeled about ten years ago. It was chosen because it evokes the universe and mica, which was used as a material for mirrors by high-ranking people in ancient China. When the Orix Buffaloes play at Kyocera Dome Osaka, the stores in the shopping street wear happi coats and uniforms to liven up the atmosphere and offer various services. The "Kujo Festival" is also popular as a summer tradition in the area.
