Bank of Japan Osaka Branch Old Building

It is an authentic Western-style building made of brick and stone with a beautiful green-blue domed roof. It is also possible to tour the inside.

This modern building faces the Tosabori River, the Dojima River, and Osaka's main street, Midosuji. It is a two-story stone building with a beautiful verdigris-colored round roof, and was constructed in 1903, modeled after the National Bank of Belgium. It is a full-scale Western-style building. It was designed by Tatsuno Kingo, who also designed Tokyo Station and Central Public Hall. During the Edo period, the Shimabara Domain's storehouse was located here, and in the early Meiji period, it was the residence of Godai Tomoatsu, a leader in the Kansai financial world. During the Showa period, there were plans to completely rebuild the building into a high-rise building to expand business space, but the exterior walls on three sides and important parts of the interior were preserved, and a new building was built on the west side of the site. If you make a reservation, you can tour the interior of the old building and the sales office of the new building.
