Ginkgo Kannon at Taioji Temple
An eleven-faced standing deity statue carved into the trunk of a large 450-year old ginkgo tree that stands near the main gate of the Taioji Temple. It’s a so-called “tachiki-butsu” (Buddha icon carved into a standing/living tree) believed to be created by either Monk Bussan Keiryu or Monk Bukkai.

Myotsuji Temple
Myotsuji is a temple with the only National Treasure in Fukui Prefecture, the Main Hall, and a three-storied pagoda. Four statues of Buddha built in the Fujiwara period (894-1185) are designated as Important Cultural Properties.

Wakasa Ichinomiya Shrines
It was said to be built in 721, which is early Nara period (710-784). The upper shrine and lower shrine are called “Wakasahiko-jinja” and “Wakasahime-jinja” respectively. The main hall, Shinmon gate, and Zuishinmon gate are built linearly within the shrine grounds.
