Kaike Onsen Kaiyu Beach
Kaike hot spring town is located at the tip of white sand Yumigahama Beach lined with green pine trees. It is a marine resort with a distinctive feature, consisted of a series of unique, crescent-shaped beaches. Its water quality is excellent, so much so that the beach was chosen as one of “88 Beautiful Swimming Beaches in Japan,” which are selected by the Ministry of the Environment.

Mizuki Shigeru Road
Mizuki Shigeru Road is about a 800-meter street that leads eastward from JR Sakaiminato Station to Mizuki Shigeru Museum. It’s a prominent tourist destination in Sakaiminato where bronze statues of yokai (supernatural creature) characters welcome visitors.

It’s a shrine built to be a “home for yokai” that keeps the town yokai-friendly as a land of yokai. The “goshintai (an object a god resides in)” sanctified by Mizuki Shigeru is enshrined here. Pay a visit to the Youkai Shrine to embrace the yokai power goshintai exudes and pray for good luck.

The Shigeru Mizuki Memorial Museum reopened in April 2024.
