Yoshimura residence (Yoshimura family residence)

Yoshimura's residence retains the architectural style of the country's Shoin-zukuri style from the Momoyama period. You can see the craftsmanship in every detail.

Yoshimura Family Residence A typical early modern residence of a wealthy farmer in the Kinai region. Parts of the building still retain the Shoin-zukuri architectural style of the Momoyama period. It is believed to have been built shortly after the previous building was burned down in the Summer Siege of Osaka in 1615. From the mid-Edo period onwards, the family served as the headman of 18 villages in Tanboku and Yakami counties (present-day Habikino, Matsubara, Yao, Osaka City). It is the first private residence to be designated as an Important Cultural Property by the government. "Photo courtesy of Habikino City Board of Education"
