Nonakaji temple

This temple is one of the ``Three Princes of Kawachi'' and is associated with Prince Shotoku, which was built during the Asuka period.
This temple is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku with the help of Soga Umako during the Asuka period. Also known as the ``middle prince'', he is one of the ``three princes of Kawachi,'' along with the ``upper prince'' of Eifukuji Temple in Taishi Town and the ``lower prince'' of Daisho Shogunji Temple in Yao City. The founding temple built in the Asuka period was destroyed by military fire during the Nanbokucho period, but the ruins of the main hall, pagoda, middle gate, and auditorium have been designated as national historic sites and preserved. The current halls were rebuilt in the early Edo period. In addition, the half-prostrate statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva from the Hakuho period and the Jizo Bosatsu statue from the mid-Heian period have both been designated as important cultural properties, and are open to the public for special viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 18th of every month. .
