Takihata Dam
The friendly ``Mandarin Duck of Takihata Dam'' is one of the eight views of Shinkawachinagano. Enjoy a walk around the lush green dam lake.
Takihata Dam, completed in March 1982, supports flood control measures and irrigation water in the upper reaches of the Ishikawa River basin, including the cultivated land of the Yamato River system, and water supply for residents of Habikino, Fujiidera, Kawachinagano, and Tondabayashi. Multipurpose dam. The surrounding area is surrounded by lush greenery, and is a natural recreation village with a campground, promenade, fishing pond, and restaurants. Many migratory birds come to the artificial lake created by the dam every year. Mandarin ducks in particular stay here every year from late October to early March of the following year and display their graceful appearance, so much so that they are considered one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Shinkawachinagano as the ``Mandarin Duck of Takihata Dam.'' There is also a Buddhist statue on the cliff downstream of the dam site, just north of the dam. It is said to have been dug by the late Natsume Shokichi, a resident of Kawachinagano City, by himself at the end of the Taisho era, and the Jizo Bodhisattva and Kannon Bodhisattva are located next to each other.
