Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine
It is the headquarters of more than 2,300 Sumiyoshi shrines nationwide, and is the No. 1 shrine in Settsu Province, formerly known as Kanpei Taisha.
In Osaka, it is affectionately called ``Sumiyossan,'' and more than 2 million people visit the shrine each year on the first three days of the New Year.

It has been worshiped since ancient times as the "god of safe navigation," "god of purification," "god of agriculture," "god of Japanese poetry," "god of martial arts," and "god of sumo," and its founding dates back to 1800 years ago. The deities enshrined are, in order from the first main shrine to the fourth main shrine, ``Sotsutsu no Mikoto'', ``Nakatsutsu no Mikoto'', ``Uwatsutsu no Mikoto'', and ``Uwatsutsu no Mikoto''. , and "Empress Jingu/Jingu Kougou". The main shrine is divided into four parts, with the first to third main shrines standing vertically, and the fourth main shrine next to the third, creating a unique layout that resembles a fleet of ships sailing on the ocean. It is also said that ``The vertical movement of the three shrines represents the preparation of fish scales, and the opening of the first shrine represents the stance of the crane wings, thus representing the eight-fold law.'' The pillars, rafters, and gables are painted red, the clapboard walls are white chalk coated, the roof is cypress bark and the gables are in strong straight lines, and the entrances and exits are straight-lined in the gable style. It is a special style that is the oldest in the history of shrine architecture and has been designated as a national treasure. It has more than 30 set shrines, subsidiary shrines, and shrines, and there are many festivals and festivals such as the Sumiyoshi Festival, and the precincts are home to buildings and cultural properties that have been carefully preserved as national treasures and important cultural properties.
