*Business dates and times may change to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Please check the official website for details. It is the place where Koshin-son appeared for the first time in Japan, and the principal image is the blue-faced Kongo-doji (secret Buddha). On Koshin Day, the 7th day of the New Year, in the first year of Taiho (701), Gohan Sozu earnestly prayed to heaven to save the many people suffering from epidemics, and a doji appeared as a messenger of Taishakuten and gave him a miraculous miracle of warding off disasters and being free from illness. Since then, for 1300 years, it has been revered that if you pray to the principal image on Koshin Day or the day before (Yoi Koshin), your wish will definitely come true. Hatsukoshin is the most grand event, with Daihannya Tendokukai held the day before, and Saito Daigomaku held on the day. During the Koshin festival, shops selling products such as ``Kitamaki Konnyaku'' open in the precincts and the area is crowded. It is said that if you receive Sansarudo's blessings, which are said to ``overcome illness'' and ``pass away evil spirits,'' any painful areas will instantly heal.
