Tsutenkaku Tower, Janjan Yokocho, and the giant puffer fish lantern sign are famous attractions in the downtown area of ​​the southern part of Osaka City. The origins of Shinsekai date back to the 5th Domestic Industrial Exposition held in Tennoji and the present Shinsekai in 1903 (Meiji 36). Tennoji Park was built in the eastern half of the site, and the remaining western half was built with Tsutenkaku Tower(the first one) as a symbol in the center, and Luna Park, a paid amusement park, to the south of it. This led to the development of the area, with theaters and movie theaters gathering and developing, and Shinsekai was formed. Currently, both Luna Park and the movie theater are closed, but the observation deck of Tsutenkaku Tower is crowded with tourists from far away, and every Monday at the Tsutenkaku Tower Theater in the basement directly below, singers from all over the country sing enka, and every Saturday and Sunday at Tsutenkaku Tower Theater TENGEKI, audiences are entertained with manzai and Kamigata rakugo. In addition, on Saturdays and Sundays, Shochiku entertainers perform rakugo and manzai. Janjan Yokocho, a 130m street lined with about 50 shops, including kushikatsu restaurants, doteyaki restaurants, and go and shogi clubs, is also lively. On weekends and holidays, many tour groups visit the street and enjoy taking commemorative photos with Billiken and pufferfish lantern signs in the background.
