Shinike Haniwa Factory Historic Park
A park suddenly appears in the middle of an ordinary town lined with apartment buildings and houses.
This park is the Haniwa Factory Park, which was created by turning the Shinike ruins, an ancient haniwa factory, into a park. The Shinike ruins are the site of one of the oldest and largest haniwa factories in Japan, where the haniwa for the Imashirozuka Tomb, said to be the tomb of Emperor Keitai, were made. It is a large-scale site that was equipped with 18 kilns for firing haniwa, three workshops (workshops), and even residences for the haniwa craftsmen, about 1,500 years ago. This park preserves and maintains the ruins, and not only has restored haniwa workshops and haniwa kilns that were in use around 450, but it also has the Haniwa Factory Museum, where excavated kilns are on display as they were, so it's hard to believe it's free to visit.
