Named temple
The name of the temple is engraved on the temple seal built on the ruins of a castle.
Nijiji Temple was built on the ruins of Ayai Castle, which once existed in Takaishi City. When Ayai Castle was destroyed in a war during the Sengoku period, one of the retainers escaped from the temple carrying Amida Nyorai on his back. Surrounded by enemies, he threw himself into the castle moat and died along with Amida Tathagata. As time passed, Genyo Shonin discovered Amida Nyorai from the moat of the castle, following a dream message. A temple was built on the castle ruins to enshrine this. The castle seals we sell have the name of the temple engraved on them, making them a rare item.
