Sakurai Shrine
It is said that the origin of this shrine is that the Sakurai Asaomi family who lived in this region enshrined their ancestor, Takeuchi Sukune no Mikoto (Kenuchi Sukune).
It is a Shikinai shrine that is compared to Sakurai Shrine (Otori District, Izumi Province) in the "Engishiki Jinmyocho." The date of its establishment is unknown, but it is believed that the family of Asaomi Sakurai, who lived in this region, enshrined their ancestor Takeuchi Sukune no Mikoto (Kenuchi Sukune). In the 5th year of Emperor Suiko's reign (597), Hachimangu Shrine was enshrined, and the current deity was enshrined there, and it reached the height of its prosperity as the general guardian of Kamijingo, Otori District, Izumi Province. However, in 1577, it was destroyed by a military fire by Oda Nobunaga, and the shrine was destroyed. The entire shrine, except for the main shrine, disappeared. The worship hall is in the form of a warihaiden (warihaiden) with a passage through the dirt floor called ``Medou'' (horse path) in the center, and is a representative example of the architecture of the early Kamakura period (a national treasure). At the autumn festival held on the Sunday near October 5th every year, a ritual dance called ``Niwadani no Koodori'' is dedicated. This is also designated as a national intangible cultural property.
