There is a legendary thunder well where an old woman sealed away lightning.
Shuninbo Chogen Shonin, who accomplished many great things including the rebuilding of Todaiji Temple, was praying for rain because of the drought. Then, with a great thunderclap, lightning struck the well. Then the old woman courageously blocks the well with a stone. When Rai cries for help, the priest lets him escape, saying, ``You must never fall into Kuwabara again.'' From then on, it is said that chanting ``Kuwabara, Kuwabara'' made lightning run away.
