Nose Myokenzan (official name: Murezan Shinnyoji Buddhist Hall outside the precincts Nose Myokenzan)
Said to have been founded by Gyoki, Myoken Sacred Site has a history of 1200 years. The god of the North Star, Myoken Daibosatsu, who governs good fortune and the arts, is enshrined here. Fate changes according to the movement of the stars. Praying to the North Star, which is at the center of the stars, will open up your destiny.
When talking about Nose, the "top of Osaka," Mt. Myoken is an essential part of the story. At the summit of the mountain, 660 meters above sea level, there is a Nichiren sect temple called "Nose Myokensan." It is said to have been founded by Gyoki, and later, Minamoto no Mitsunaka, the ancestor of the Genji clan, enshrined Myoken Bosatsu. During the Edo period, it was affectionately known as "Nose no Myoken-san," a temple with miraculous powers, and visitors from all over the country gathered there, and it was also the subject of rakugo. Myoken-sama is the god of the North Star, who can see into fate, and is said to bring good fortune. He is also deeply revered as the god of performing arts, as his name means "wonderful view," and it is said that rinsing your hands with the water from the Jousui-do Hall, donated by the legendary Kabuki actor Nakamura Utaemon IV, will make you beautiful. Rich in nature, you can enjoy the beauty of nature throughout the four seasons, with cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, autumn leaves, and snowy scenery. On a clear day, you can see the entire Osaka Bay.
