Nomi Shrine

It is said to have its origin when it was enshrined as Gozu Tennosha.

During the late Heian period (late 9th century), when a disease was prevalent in this area and many people died, there was an oracle that said, ``If you build a shrine and enshrine Gozu Tenno, the disease will be cured.'' did. This god was said to be able to drive away disasters and epidemics, so when he was immediately enshrined there, the disease immediately ended. It is said that the shrine was originally built here and enshrined as Gozu Tenno Shrine. Later, at the end of the 10th century, Takatsuki Castle was built, and Gozu Tenno Shrine was revered by the castle lord at the time as the guardian of Takatsuki Castle. Also, when Ukon Takayama became the lord of Takatsuki Castle, because he believed in Christianity, he destroyed our company's shrine building within Takatsuki Castle and confiscated the company's territory. In 1619 (Genna 5), ​​the main shrine was rebuilt by Matsudaira Kiimokami, the lord of Takatsuki Castle. After that, Nomi Sukune no Mikoto was enshrined there and the name was changed to ``Nomi Shrine''.
