Nishikinohama clam hunting area
How about going clam-digging in the pleasant spring sea breeze? Spend the day playing in the ocean and enjoying the specialty shellfish rice and shellfish hotpot of Nishikihama.
Nishikinohama Beach in Kaizuka City is a spacious beach with a total length of about 1 km, a 10-minute walk from Nishikinohama Station on the Nankai Electric Railway Nankai Main Line. Every year, clam digging is allowed from April to June, and the beach is crowded with many families. At this clam digging site, you pay an entrance fee to the tidal flats (1,700 yen for adults / 850 yen for children) to enter, and you can take home up to 600g of shellfish for adults and 300g for children. They also rent rakes. While feeling the pleasant spring sea breeze, the whole family can gather shellfish and play in the sea to their heart's content, and enjoy Nishikinohama's specialty shellfish rice and shellfish hotpot. By the way, the best time for clam digging varies depending on the tides, so we recommend that you check the "Clam Digging Calendar" released by the Nishikinohama Tourist Association, the Marine Information Department of the 5th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, Osaka Prefecture, etc. before going out.
