The Nipponbashi DenDen Town is one Osaka’s most prominent shopping districts with more than 150 stores lining an arcade that stretches about a kilometer east to west of Sakaisuji.
Known as “DenDen Town,” this place has been developing into a town of electronics for a long time. Currently, there has been a concentration of stores that handle various Otaku-related products, namely manga, anime, games, figures, and trading card games, all of which makes up west Japan’s largest electronics and Otaku district of today.
In addition, the Nipponbashi Street Festa (*) that has been primarily held at Nipponbashi DenDen Town since 2005, is known as the largest cosplay event in the entire country with over 10,000 cosplayers participating from all over the nation, garnering the attention from not only Japan but from overseas.
Furthermore, reflective of the stay-at-home nature of the past few years, the place has also grew towards becoming a “Cutting-Edge Hobbyist Town” with many visitors looking for high-end products such as craftwork items for plastic models and electronics crafting, to audio and home cinema.
