National Museum of Ethnology

Known affectionately as ``Minpaku,'' this is a ``research institute with a museum'' that exhibits and introduces the lifestyle culture of various ethnic groups around the world, as well as daily utensils, ethnic costumes, and homes.

The National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) is one of the world's largest ethnology museums, located in Expo Commemoration Park in Osaka, and is themed on cultural anthropology and ethnology. It has a collection of about 345,000 items, including everyday items and ethnic costumes collected by researchers from all over the world. The main museum's exhibits are divided into nine regions and a cross-cultural exhibit of music and language, and are structured to travel around the world starting from Oceania and moving eastward. You can experience various cultures from around the world through about 12,000 exhibits, mainly related to everyday items such as food, clothing, and shelter, and about 800 video programs introducing rituals, performing arts, and lifestyles around the world. Special exhibitions and planned exhibitions are also held several times a year.
