Nakamura family residence
The Nakamura family is one of the townhouses that has existed since the 1600s, when Tondabayashi Jinaimachi began to prosper. Like the former Sugiyama family house, which is the only townhouse in Jinaimachi that you can tour inside, it boasted one of the largest sake breweries in Kawachi Province (near present-day Minamikawachi District) during the mid-Edo period as the sake brewer ``Sado-ya''. At the end of the Edo period, Shoin Yoshida stayed there for nearly a month, and other famous people also stayed there, which is a record unique to a large store. Although the existing house is not from that time, it was built around 1782 and is designated as a cultural property of Osaka Prefecture. It is now a valuable building, using the architectural style of a merchant house often seen in Osaka and Kyoto, but as it is a private residence, the interior is not open to the public.
