Nagahori Bridge
It was the first bridge built over the Nagahori River during the Edo period, and now a monument stands there.
This bridge was the first bridge built over the Nagahori River (approximately 2,500 m in length and 30 to 40 m in width) in 1625, connecting the Higashiyokobori River and the Kizugawa River. Along with Shinsaibashi and Shinanobashi, this bridge played an important role in Osaka, and both were Kogi Bridges managed by the Edo Shogunate. In the Meiji period, rivers began to be reclaimed, and the bridges that once existed in Osaka, so many that they were nicknamed the ``Naniwa Eight Hundred Bridges,'' gradually disappeared. Nagahoribashi is one of them. Currently, a monument stands there, and its name remains as the name of a subway station.
