Miyuki Street (Korea Town)
Japan's largest Koreatown is home to about 150 Korean grocery stores, restaurants, and traditional clothing stores.
This shopping street is located between Tsuruhashi Station and Momodani Station on the JR Loop Line, and there are about 150 Korean food stores selling kimchi and pancakes, restaurants, and shops selling traditional clothing lined up on a 300m street. Many of the areas are run by Korean residents in Japan, and Hangul is everywhere in the city, making it the area with the highest concentration of Korean residents in Japan. In recent years, local people have formed an NGO that offers kimchi-making experiences, introductory Hangul classes, and city tours to middle and high school students visiting from other regions on school trips. By the way, the name "Miyuki-dori" comes from the place where people who came from Baekje lived in this area around the 5th century, and where the then-Emperor Nintoku rested when he came to inspect the situation (at the western end of the current shopping street). It is said that the origin of the name is that ``Miyukimori Shrine'' was built in the forest located in the forest.
