Midoribashi
One of the bridges that spanned the Sengen River that ran through Higashiosaka City. Today, the stone monument and place name remain.
This bridge was built over the Sengen River, an irrigation canal that used to connect the Hirano River in the west with Nakakoya Kaido, which was located in the city limits of present-day Higashiosaka City. Before land reclamation work began in 1967, the approximately 1,800m long Sengen River flowed through the area, and was crowded with people commuting from Higashinari to the city in small boats. There are about 20 bridges spanning the Sengen River, one of which is Midoribashi. The Sengen River has now been reborn as the Midorin Road, and the southern intersection retains its original name, ``Midori Bridge,'' and a monument has been erected there.
