Masaki Art Museum
A 15-minute walk from Tadaoka Station on the Nankai Main Line, the museum houses and exhibits Oriental art, mainly ink paintings, that Tadaoka wealthy man Masaki Takayuki has collected over the years. The museum's collection includes 1,300 pieces, including three national treasures and 13 important cultural properties. Of the approximately 300 paintings, many of which are ink paintings from the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, are valuable pieces for the history of medieval Japanese painting. Both the main building and the new building were designed by Masaki himself, and are enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere suitable for appreciating ink paintings. Exhibitions are held twice a year, in the spring and autumn. Each exhibition is a creatively themed exhibition that combines ink paintings and calligraphy, a posthumous work of Zen culture, with crafts, sculptures, and tea utensils that harmonize with them.
