Maishima Sports Island (Maishima Urban Auto Village Barbecue Garden)
Tennis, baseball, car camping, and barbecue. You can also try Osaka's new specialty, Namba Tsuyaki.
Approximately 35 minutes by bus from Nishikujo. After crossing the Konohana Ohashi Bridge, you will arrive at Maishima, an artificial island floating in Osaka Bay. The vast island is home to a variety of sports facilities, including the practice field for the professional soccer team Cerezo Osaka, the indoor stadium Maishima Arena, a baseball stadium, and the Seaside Tennis Garden. Nearby are Lodge Maishima, a popular place for lodging and training, an auto campsite, and a barbecue garden. On the other hand, there are also spots where you can experience the nature of Osaka Bay, such as Shin-Yuhigaoka, which is popular as a perfect sunset spot, Maishima's rocky shore where you can enjoy the sea breeze and the sound of waves, and Seaside Promenade. Equipped with the city's only full-scale climbing kiln, the Maishima Ceramics Museum is a place where Namba Tsuyaki is passed down, and includes a graduate school workshop for professionals, a general workshop for beginners, and a two-hour hand-building experience workshop.
