Kuchinawazaka
Shingonzaka, Genshojizaka, Kuchinawazaka, Aizenzaka, Shimizuzaka, Tenjinzaka, and Ouzaka in Tennoji Ward, Osaka City. The seven slopes of the temple are called ``Tennoji Nanazaka.'' Kuchinawa-zaka is a quiet stone-paved slope that runs from Taihei-ji Temple to Matsuyamachi-suji, and is said to be because the undulations of the road resemble a ``snake'' when viewed from the bottom of the slope. It is also said that this is the place where it started. At the top of the hill, there is a monument with a passage from author Sakunosuke Oda's ``The City of Trees'' engraved on it. Nearby Joshun-ji Temple contains the graves of Goryu Asada, an astronomical calendar scholar, Takeda Tanomura, a painter, and Juyasu Kitayama, a physician, at Taihei-ji Temple, both of whom were active during the Edo period. There is also a memorial tower to Basho in Umeku-in.
