Settsu Province Kokubunji (main temple of the Kokubunji school of the Shingon sect)

It is located in the middle of the metropolis, close to Osaka Station, right at the entrance of Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome shopping street. It was founded 1,350 years ago and became a Kokubunji temple during the reign of Emperor Shomu. The principal image is the Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai.

This temple is the head temple of the Kokubunji sect of the Shingon sect, located in Kita Ward, Osaka City. In ancient times, it was also popular as Nagara Kokubunji. The name of the mountain is Gokokuyama, and the name of the temple is Kongo-in, and it is now designated as one of the four sacred routes. The precincts are relatively large for a temple in Osaka city. The principal image, the seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai, as well as the standing statues of Kobo Daishi and Fudo Myoo, are waiting for your visit.
