Kitashinchi
A high-end entertainment district representing Kita, Osaka, which has flourished as a place for business people to exchange information.
Kita's upscale entertainment district is filled with bars, clubs, snack bars, small restaurants, Japanese and Western cuisine, and other eateries. It is a rectangular area approximately 500m east to west and 250m north to south, surrounded by National Route 2 to the north, Dojima River to the south, Midosuji to the east, and Yotsubashi to the west. Its origins can be traced back to the creation of Dojima Shinchi in 1688, when renovation work was carried out on various parts of the main tributary of the Yodogawa River. The ``Dojima Rice Market'' was opened in 1698, and feudal lord mansions, teahouses, bathhouses, and playhouses were allowed in the area around Shinchi, and the area prospered. Later, as Yoneichi developed and Dojima became a merchant district, the playground moved to Sonezaki Shinchi, located across the Sonezaki River. Sonezaki Shinchi is home to mainly teahouses housing prostitutes, as well as nimuri shops, bathhouses, bathhouses (steamed bathhouses), playhouses, shooting ranges, and inns, and in 1842 it became Japan's first publicly licensed It became popular as an amusement park. In 1912, the Sonezaki River was reclaimed, and Dojima Shinchi and Sonezaki Shinchi became the current Kitashinchi. After the war, it flourished as a place for business people to exchange information, and was also called the "Night Chamber of Commerce and Industry." When they played in Kitashinchi, they were seen as having plenty of money, and the banks trusted them.
