Kanda Tenmangu Shrine
Legend has it that if you offer sacred sake to the statue of Sugawara no Michizane in the shrine's collection during the annual festival, Michizane's face will turn red.
The year of construction is unknown. Originally, it was enshrined to the east of the edge of Shimokanda, facing the former Shinomiya Village Kamijimagashira (present-day Kadoma City) across the river from the guardian deity. During the Shimagashira festival, they received gohei from a shrine in Kanda, and when the festival was over, they were to give it back to the shrine. It was established in its current location in 1659. Legend has it that if you offer sacred sake to the statue of Sugawara no Michizane in the shrine's collection during the annual festival, Michizane's face will turn red. There is a large camphor tree in the precincts that is over 800 years old, with a trunk circumference of 10 meters and a height of about 30 meters.
