[Closed for reconstruction] Japanese Crafts Museum
A museum that exhibits and preserves everything from old ceramics from various places such as Kotanba and Koseto to modern ones.
Get off at Namba Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line and walk about 400m south to this museum, which aims to exhibit folk crafts (folk arts) and preserve, develop and spread their techniques. It was originally established in 1950 as a private museum by renovating an Edo-period rice storehouse that had survived the war in Dojima, but in 1960, to commemorate its 10th anniversary, it was relocated to its current location in two new three-story reinforced concrete buildings designed to resemble a castle, and has been registered as a museum ever since. Its core collection includes old ceramics from various regions, such as Old Tamba and Old Seto, as well as excellent pieces currently being made, and they are also available for sale.
