Jakkoji Temple (Eguchi no Kimido)
This temple is said to have been founded in the 2nd year of the Genkyu era by Koso Bikuni, the daughter of Taira no Sukemori, who became a prostitute in Eguchi after the fall of the Heike clan, and is said to have become a monk.
Saigyo Hoshi encountered a rain shower while passing through the area, and when he asked Eguchi no Kimi for shelter from the rain, he was refused. This temple is famous for the story of the priest reciting a song, and Eguchi no Kimi reciting it, and finally spending the night enjoying the song.
