Izumi Inoue Shrine

It is an old shrine that is said to have been used by Emperor Jimmu to pray for the success of his expedition to the east.
Although it is unclear when it was founded, it is an old shrine that is said to have been used by Emperor Jimmu to pray for the success of his expedition to the east. In the second year of Emperor Chuai's reign (200), when Empress Jingu visited this area, pure water suddenly began to gush out. It is said that the Empress was pleased with this and worshiped it as a sacred spring, which is why the area came to be called ``Izumi.'' It is also said that Toyotomi Hideyoshi had this Izumi Shimizu water transported to Osaka Castle and used it for tea ceremonies. In the 2nd year of Reiki (716), when Izumi no gen was established and this area became the center of local politics, Izumi Gosha (Gosha Daimyojin: Otori/Izumi) was built next to Izumi Inoue Shrine. Izumi Kuni Soja Shrine was built to enshrine Anashi, Hijiri, Sumikawa, and Hine. To the north of the main hall of Izumi Inoue Shrine, the main building of Gosha Soja, which was rebuilt by Hideyori Toyotomi in 1605, remains and is designated as a national important cultural property.
