This shrine is located upstream of the Milky Way, which flows north-south through Katano City in the northeastern part of Osaka Prefecture, and is dedicated to the 12m high and 12m wide boat-shaped rock ``Ameno Iwafune.'' According to legend, Nakuhayahi-no-Mikoto, who is said to be the ancestor of the Mononobe clan, descended on an Iwafune, and the place where the Iwafune is located is said to be the sacred place where the god descended. It is said that when Kiyomasa Kato was building Osaka Castle, he tried to remove this huge rock, but was unable to do so and gave up, carving ``Kato Higonokami Kiyomasa'' on top of the rock. Four Buddha statues are carved into the huge rock next to the shrine, facing the Milky Way: Dainichi Nyorai, Kannon Bosatsu, Jizo Bosatsu, and Seishi Bosatsu. The company, which has been known since ancient times as a place for Shintoists and Shugendo practitioners, also offers a ``Rock Cave Tour'' where you can enter the caves that spread out beneath the huge rocks, which is open to the general public.
