Ikeda Castle Ruins Park
This is the former castle site of the Ikeda clan, a local feudal lord from the Muromachi to Sengoku periods. Enjoy the view of the city while remembering the glory of the Ikeda clan.
Ikeda is about 20 minutes away from Umeda, Osaka by Hankyu train. Ikeda Castle Ruins Park was opened in 2000 on the site of the castle of the Ikeda clan, a local clan that once ruled the entire Ikeda city area. There are entrances to the park on each of the north, south, east and west sides, but the main entrance is the east gate adjacent to the education center. After crossing the 3m wide and 23m long wooden bridge and passing through the gate, the park is dotted with a Japanese garden, a teahouse with a tiled roof, a reconstructed remains corner, and a tower-style observation rest building. Looking out over the city, you can see the cable-stayed Shin-Inagawa Ohashi Bridge (commonly known as the Big Harp), which looks like a giant harp, and on a clear day you can see as far as Kobe and Wakayama. Volunteer guided tours are sometimes held on weekends and holidays. It is the perfect place to reflect on the history and culture of Ikeda.
