Toyokuni Shrine
This shrine is located on the south side of the main enclosure in Osaka Castle Park, and is known as a shrine dedicated to Hideyoshi, Hideyori, and Hidenaga, and is known for praying for good luck in life. It was originally built in 1879 by Emperor Meiji's edict at Yamazaki-no-hana, Nakanoshima (currently the location of the Central Public Hall), as an annex to Toyokuni Shrine in Kyoto. After that, it was moved to near the Nakanoshima Library, and then moved to its current location in 1961. Within the precincts is the Hideishi Garden, which was built in 1972. In honor of the development of Osaka, which faces the sea, the garden has a marine theme, and the ground pattern is shaped like a Sennari gourd, which was Hideyoshi's horse seal, and is combined with huge stones to represent a ``stone mountain.'' In memory of Hideyoshi, who took over the world from an unknown ashigaru in just one generation, many people buy one Sennari gourd as a talisman and pray for good luck in their career.
