Hiyoshi Shrine
At the summer festival in July, festivals, togyo (watari), kagura, and lion dances are held.
During the Bunan period (1444-1448) of the Muromachi period, there was already a huge temple of the Tendai sect, ``Akagawa Temple'' (Sekisenji) in this area. There was a shrine within the precincts that enshrined the spirit of Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Otsu, which was called ``Sannogu''. During the subsequent Summer Siege in Osaka, Akagawa-dera Temple was destroyed by fire, but the shrine survived and was enshrined as the guardian deity of the neighborhood. In the first year of the Meiji era, the name was changed to "Hiyoshi Shrine". In 1889, the northern part of the precincts was requisitioned for Yodo River expansion work, and the main shrine was moved 200 meters south to its current location. At the summer festival in July, festivals, togyo (watari) , kagura, and lion dances are held.
