Himeshima Shrine

At the summer festival held on the 3rd Saturday and 4th Sunday in July, a ritual is held to pray for the end of the summer and the end of the epidemic.

In the 5th year of Meiji, it was ranked as a local shrine. The date of its establishment is unknown, but there are 10 stone lanterns dating from 1648 on the grounds, and it is thought that Akaruhime-no-Mikoto was enshrined as a deity at least before the Edo period. Akaruhime no Mikoto separated from her husband, crossed the ocean, and made a new start in a new land, where she taught women weaving, sewing, pottery, and musical instruments, and was loved by many women. It has been worshiped as a god. At the summer festival held on the 3rd Saturday and 4th Sunday in July, a ritual is held to pray for the end of the summer and the end of the epidemic.
