Kizu market
Kizu Market boasts a history of over 300 years. It is said that its roots were in open-air sales, where nearby farmers brought their items together to buy and sell. The location is near Daikokucho Station, one station south of Namba. There are approximately 150 wholesalers including seafood and fruits and vegetables, and many of the chefs at restaurants in the downtown area of Minami come here to purchase their products. For the general public, a morning market is held from 9am to 12pm on the second and last Saturday of every month. There will be plenty of tastings, as well as an auction experience and a raffle. In the summer, you can also have a barbecue using the ingredients you buy at the market at a venue right next door. During the Ebisu Festival, also known as Ebessan, which is Osaka's most famous festival, sea bream is traditionally offered from Kizu Market to Imamiya Ebisu Shrine to pray for a big catch and prosperous business. This is a traditional event that has continued since the Edo period. ●Inquiries/Osaka Kizu Wholesale Market Market Association Phone: 06-6631-1131
