It is one of the ancient shrines in Senshu. There are many anecdotes about it, including the story of Ki no Tsurayuki, a poet from the Heian period, and the legend of the shrine's name Aritsuchi, which is mentioned in "The Pillow Book." During World War II, the shrine was forced to move to its current location, one kilometer away, due to the construction of the Sano Branch of the Army Flying School. The main deities enshrined are Okuninushi no Mikoto and Aritsuchi Myojin. This shrine is associated with the Noh song "Arittsuchi," written by Zeami. In recent years, the shrine has held bonfire Noh performances in the dance hall, and is deeply connected to Noh theater. *The bonfire Noh performances were forced to be canceled in 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19, but have continued to be held since then.
