An'onji Temple
Calmly and peacefully.
On July 16, 962 (Owa 2), at the end of the Heian period, Genshinbo Eshin Sozu (943-1017), a famous Tendai sect monk, visited this place during his travels and recognized the topography and water supply, and built a temple. did. At that time, it is said that the three bodies of Eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva, Fudo Myoo, and Bishamonten were enshrined in the temple and prayed to. Since then, Genshinbo Eshin Sozu has been revered as the founder, and later became a Shingon sect temple and converted to the Hokke sect in the Edo period. The Eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva, which is said to have been created by Sozu Eshin and is a cultural property designated by Osaka Prefecture, is said to be the ``Kannon who protects against fire,'' and its virtuous expression calms the mind. Additionally, the water that gushes out from the side of the temple never dries up all year round, and legend has it that if you drink this water, you will be safe from fire.
