Mr. Yutaka Fukumoto
Appointed in December 2018. Born in Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture. Joined the Hankyu Braves in 1968. Became the first stolen base leader in 1970 with 75 stolen bases, and won the title for 13 consecutive years thereafter. In 1972, he set a Japanese record of 106 stolen bases in a season. He was named to the Best Nine (10 times) and won the Golden Glove Award (12 times). In 1988, he recorded 2,543 hits and 1,065 stolen bases, and retired from active play. He holds the Japanese record for total stolen bases (which also exceeded the MLB record at the time), and is known as "Fukumoto of the World" and "The World's Stolen Base King." After retiring, he worked as a coach and is currently active mainly as a baseball commentator and baseball critic.
