A family tour around lush green Minoh

When you think of Osaka, you think of takoyaki, comedy, shopping, and neon lights at night...but did you know that Osaka also has a lush green area where parents and children can play for a day? Minoo, about 30 minutes by train from central Osaka, is full of fun spots perfect for traveling with children, such as strolling through parks and admiring impressive valleys and waterfalls. Both adults and children can have fun in Osaka, where you can enjoy both the bustle of the city and the rich nature.

  1. START

Take the Takarazuka Line/Minoh Line from Hankyu Osaka Umeda Station and get off at Minoh Station.

10 minutes walk from the park entrance, Ichinohashi. The Insect Museum, located in the nature-rich Minoh Park, which is also known as a treasure trove of insects, is a popular spot for children. Insects that live in the forests of Minoh to foreign insects are introduced in a variety of ways in a fun way. There are many ingenious features such as biological exhibits such as the Hercules beetle, which is overwhelmingly popular with children, devices that allow you to learn about the ecology of insects through sounds and smells, and touchable models. In addition, the bright, glass-enclosed butterfly garden is truly a butterfly paradise, where you can see colorful butterflies flitting around right in front of your eyes all year round. You'll lose track of time as you gaze at the pretty butterflies perched on the small flowers. The more you learn about mysterious creatures and insects, the more you will become fascinated by their mysterious ecology.

  4. Osaka Prefectural Minoh Park

Now, let's head towards Minoo Falls, which is about 2 kilometers away. The path that follows the mountain stream is paved, making it easy and safe to walk on. The tall trees that grow towards the sky create a natural tunnel, and the sunlight shining through the leaves shines through the leaves. Along the gentle uphill slope, there are rest areas where you can take a breather, large rocks jutting out into the road, Takiyasuji Temple nestled in the mountains, and a teahouse with a nostalgic atmosphere, so you won't get bored. As you climb the gentle mountain path amidst the silence of the mountain, hearing only the sound of the roaring water of the mountain stream, a large waterfall will appear right in front of you. If you sit in front of it and just look at the beautiful scenery, your tired legs will gradually feel relieved after walking for less than an hour.

  5. Minoh Onsen

After enjoying Minoh Park, return along the waterfall path and head towards the station again. The Minoh Kanko Hotel opened in 1951 and is a dynamic exposed concrete building that juts out from the slopes of Mt. Minoh. Once you ascend the observation elevator and pass through the scenic aerial corridor, you will arrive at the hotel, where you will find a gorgeous Japanese-style interior with a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere. It is a large-scale modernist building designed by Junzo Sakakura Architectural Institute, and has recently been attracting attention as a building. What we recommend here is the open-air bath, which takes advantage of the location. The spectacular view overlooking Mt. Minoh becomes even more beautiful and romantic at night. Soothe your tired body after a day of playing with the natural hot water. In addition to the hotel, there is also a spa, bowling alley, and pool (summer only). The hotel's open-air baths and other bath facilities are available for overnight stays as well as for day trip plans (no need to prepare bath towels, etc.). The bath facilities at Spar Garden only have bar soap, but bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, etc. are available for sale.

(Weekdays 10:00-17:00) Adults (junior high school students and older) 1,580 yen, Elementary school students 980 yen, Infants 580 yen, (17:00-23:00*Last admission) Adults 770 yen *Weekend fees apply *Separate bathing tax Consumption tax will be charged.
