About school exchanges with foreign countries
Osaka is an international hub city with a unique character that connects all over the world. Osaka offers students from overseas on educational trips the opportunity to create lasting memories.
About the Osaka School Exchange Program
The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau coordinates exchanges between schools in Osaka Prefecture and overseas educational travel groups, with the goal of providing students who participate in the programs with a mutually fulfilling international exchange experience.
Five reasons to choose Osaka
1. Safety during your stay
2. Surrounded by historic cities (World Heritage sites such as Kyoto and Nara)
3. Diverse tourist spots
4. Diverse Accommodations
5. Hospitality Osaka provides experiences that deepen mutual understanding through school exchanges in order to develop truly international youth. International understanding is promoted by having students talk together, participate in club activities, and experience traditional Japanese events together. In addition, by having students learn, play, and live together, students will deepen their friendships and share impressions that transcend national borders. We provide programs to promote international exchange among students.
About the Osaka B&S (Brothers & Sisters) Program
For educational tour groups from overseas visiting Osaka, we offer the "Osaka B&S Program," an experiential tour where university students and international students act as guides and introduce the charms of Osaka to tourist sites and towns such as Osaka Castle, Dotonbori, and Sakai while interacting like brothers and sisters.
Through the Osaka B&S Program, students will be able to experience not only Osaka's history and culture, but also the charm of its city, people, and food, which we hope will lead to deeper learning and motivate them to want to study and work in Osaka in the future.
In this program, one university student or international student studying in Osaka will act as a guide for every six to eight students (junior high and high school students). The guides will interact with each other like brothers and sisters and take a stroll around the city and tourist sites using public transportation, introducing the charms of Osaka.
Cost: 2,600 yen per person (excluding tax) *Transportation, admission and meal costs are not included.
Duration: Within 5 hours *Reservations for this program will begin being accepted from schools and travel agencies from Monday, December 14, 2020, and will be implemented from May 2021.

Visiting a school for study abroad
In Osaka, there are universities where you can study a wide variety of subjects, as well as "vocational schools," higher education institutions that provide practical vocational education, where many international students study hard for their futures. The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau can help students and schools considering studying in Japan find campus tours and places to visit for information about studying abroad. Please feel free to contact us.
(Applications will be accepted on a school-by-school basis.)
Reasons why we recommend Osaka as a study abroad destinationOsaka, home to Kansai International Airport, is a big city, yet it is an international and friendly city, ranking third in the "world's most livable cities"*. Prices and rent are relatively cheaper than other big cities, and there are plenty of part-time jobs available. In addition, many schools have support departments (staff) for international students, so you can rest assured.
Osaka will host many international conferences and events, including the 2025 World Expo (EXPO2025). It is a city where we expect to see more and more international students play an active role in the future. Osaka is close to Kyoto and Nara, and is a city with a rich history and culture. It is also full of various attractions, such as pop culture such as manga, anime, and games, and a diverse food culture from traditional Japanese cuisine to ramen. Your life as an international student will surely be enjoyable!
