Recommended gourmet food in Osaka

Omelette rice

The cuisine in the ``Yoshoku'' category is a strange one; it refers to Western-style cuisine that has evolved uniquely in Japan. In Japan, which had just opened its doors to the world, Western restaurants appeared from the late Edo period to the Meiji period, and dishes such as fried shrimp, tonkatsu, curry rice, and croquettes were created.

When you think of omelet rice, one of those Western food menus, any Japanese person can picture a cute yellow egg roll topped with bright red ketchup or tomato sauce. There is a theory that omelet rice was created in Osaka in 1925. The owner felt sorry for his regular customers who had stomach problems and had to eat omelets and white rice every day, so when he served ketchup rice wrapped in a thinly baked egg, the customers were overjoyed.

When asked, ``It's delicious! What is this?'', he immediately answered, ``It's omelet rice, which is a combination of omelet and rice.'' episode.

Even now, amidst the hustle and bustle of Minami, Osaka's busiest district, it still maintains the calm, Japanese atmosphere of a Japanese restaurant.

Inside is a tatami room with a view of the Japanese garden. You can enjoy the fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine, reminiscent of the Taisho Romantic period when omelette rice was first created.

In addition to the main store, there are many branches in Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto, including department stores and commercial facilities, where you can enjoy the original omelette rice.
