Instant noodle
It is said that more than 100 billion servings of instant noodles are consumed worldwide.
The first product was born in a small shed in the backyard of Momofuku Ando's home in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture. Momofuku Ando is the founder of Nissin Foods.
In 1958, the world's first instant ramen, Chicken Ramen, was released. It was an innovative product that involved steaming noodles, seasoning them, frying them in oil, and then drying them.
The chicken ramen that claimed to be ready in 2 minutes by adding hot water was called ``magic ramen.'' The price at the time of release was 35 yen per meal. It was a time when udon balls cost 6 yen, but they sold explosively because they were ``delicious and convenient.'' It coincided with the era when both parents worked and nuclear families were becoming more common, and it was also the time when supermarkets appeared in Japan, and they were sold in large quantities using Western-style distribution systems.
Furthermore, Momofuku Ando believed that in order to spread instant ramen around the world, it was necessary to overcome the barriers of dietary habits, and by combining various wisdom and innovative ideas, he invented the world's first cup noodle, ``Cup Noodles.'' Cup Noodles, released in 1971, was a completely new type of instant ramen that contained noodles in a styrofoam paper cup and served with freeze-dried toppings. The container was a processed food product that embodies a completely new concept: it serves as a package at the store, a cooking utensil when the user pours hot water, and a tableware when eating.
It spread to Asia, America, and Europe, and instant ramen born in Osaka became a global food. Safe, simple, hygienic, long-lasting, inexpensive, and delicious, instant ramen can be called a food revolution.
Recently, Momofuku Noodles, a completely new custom-made cup noodle with the concept of ``lots of vegetables,'' has been released exclusively at Hankyu Umeda Main Store. You can customize the rich soup and cute ingredients to your liking, making it a perfect souvenir.
